An Urgent Message

  1. Way too late

Letting Putin take parts of Ukraine while Obama was Pres. & Biden was Vice Pres. has made Putin believe he can absorb all of Ukraine (& probably Belaruse & Georgia into Russia. He will all call thm to be part of Russia.

We shall see if Biden has a trick up his sleeve. If China doesn’t do much to support Biden’s economic plans then c’est un fait acoplit.

  2. Putin has less than a month to act — the thaw is coming.

So we won’t have to wait long.

Looking at pictures of Putin, I notice 2 things. First, he is no longer fit — being fit is something he has prided himself on. His face is bloated, and he has a stomach. Is that fat? Is it edema from cancer/cancer drugs? Secondly, his eyes are dull, no longer piercing. That correlates better with the latter (health) than with the former (simple weight gain).

He may see this as his legacy — which could be so even if his departure from this mortal coil is not imminent, but all the more reason to continue on if it is.

Of such considerations are wars born.

Where do we, Quakers, stand on this complex moral issue?

I know where I stand: we have a perspective that removes the occasion for all wars. And we have done nothing, absolutely nothing, to bring spiritual community to the masses. We are wedded to “our contemplative way or the highway” with no imagination give to, nor recognition of the moral necessity of, finding ways consistent with spirit-led community able to be immediately grasped and embraced by any person coming in the door. Instead, we preach our laudable perspectives knowing full well that our perspectives come from our personal experience of Spirit, not from being preached at.

Only a world where Quakers are an international force for peace, because of numbers, can make a difference. All the rest is just preaching, which we have rightly eschewed.
