While ICE Makes People Disappear
For Wilber Rafael Garcés Pérez & the others

So now ICE makes them disappear,
Like death squads in tyrant lands severe.
They shrug & chuckle, say, “They’re not here —
And who knows if they’ll reappear?
Who cares? — But don’t dare interfere.”
While ICE makes more kids disappear. . . .

They’ve got the guns, and the green light here.
Plus more impunity than any buccaneer.
And now it should be very clear,
The damage done is quite severe.
It lives by spreading deep cold fear,
The ones they shoot they work to smear,
Befoul the very atmosphere.
As ICE makes fathers disappear. . . .

At law & courts they mock and jeer.
Their gulags rush to profiteer
From death & misery they engineer.
I salute all those who volunteer
To probe beneath the smug veneer.
While ICE makes more moms disappear

Who will disrupt this dread career?
To end the horror, year on year,
Stop the raids, to the laws adhere.
It is a work that’s multi-year;
Who’ll answer the call & persevere?
Before ICE makes freedom disappear. . . .
If there was actual blues music — I missed it — or my ‘puter didna pick it up . . .:-(
